Abortion decriminalised in NSW

Women’s Legal Service NSW welcomes the passing of legislation to remove abortion from the Crimes Act in NSW.

We have long advocated that abortion is a healthcare issue.

We have long advocated people should not fear being prosecuted and criminalised for seeking the healthcare they need.

After 119 years it is important that women will be able to access abortion legally.

We thank the many women and other supporters who have been advocating for this change for so long and the 15 co-sponsors of the legislation who have led this work in Parliament.
