The WLS Foundation
What is ‘The Foundation’?
Our Foundation was set up in 2012 to mark the 30 Year Anniversary of WLS NSW. It was established as an independent organisation to support and promote innovative projects where public funding is unreliable. Using the Foundation to establish an independent source of funding ensures that the WLS NSW can continue this important work.
The Foundation also campaigns for the reform of unjust laws, policy and legal processes that affect the rights and limit the lives of women, particularly those most disadvantaged in their access to justice. A key vision of the Foundation is the pursuit of a fair and just legal system for all women in NSW.
Since its inception The Foundation has united a small but passionate network of supporters, who attend our events, make regular donations and promote our projects.
Help Women’s Legal Service to help YOU!
With imminent and huge funding cuts looming over us, we are desperately trying to reverse the decision. In real terms this means many of our essential services such as our free telephone advice and our outreach clinics will likely be gone within a year.
We are asking any women who have accessed our services (or who know someone that has) to share their stories with us. We hope to be able to use these real experiences as part of our campaign.
The Bright Spark Award presentation will be held on Friday 29 July. We will acknowledge and appreciate the great work done by inspiring women in our workplace and community. Nominations are currently open.
The Foundation distributes a regular e-newsletter detailing current projects and campaigns, information about events and activities and articles about recent law reform and advocacy.
You can join our mailing list to receive our e-news and event invites.

In March 2016 a new travel insurance brand for women ‘Travel With Jane’ was launched. With that comes a new philanthropic partnership for WLS NSW as Travel With Jane have committed to donating a percentage of every policy sold.
“Our hope is that, even in a small way, we can help to educate more people about the important work the WLS do,” says Insured By Us Director, Ben Webster.
The Foundation is proud to have the ongoing support of Gilbert and Tobin and CBP lawyers who host events for us and contribute to our campaigns.
How Can I Get Involved?
We are working to build a network of supporters who are prepared to make a regular financial commitment to ensure the great work of the WLS NSW continues irrespective of the level of funding we receive from government.
To make a regular or one-off donation visit the Foundation’s page at GiveNow.com.au The Foundation also values support in-kind.
To keep up-to-date with the Foundations activities you can join our mailing list to receive event invites and a regular e-newsletter or follow us on Facebook. Our supporters pass on information, invite their colleagues to our events and promote our campaigns through their own social media and networks.
All of these contributions are valuable to the Foundation.
